Miracle and Brotherhood

Miracle portrays the true story of the 1980 USA Olympic hockey team. Players from all over the nation are united under the Star Spangled Banner to represent and unite their homeland in a time of domestic instability. Getting used to brotherhood was no simple task for the players. Players from Minnesota and Boston were required to drop old rivalries instantly and participate in a fraternal fashion. Throughout the movie, these young men overcome their petty variances to become not only a team, but also a family; in doing so, they were able to accomplish one of the greatest upsets of all time by defeating the heavily favored Soviet Union.
Relating closely to the theme of being a fraternity or brotherhood is the “real life” example of our D.C. Leadership Academy. Presently there are over 20 Delts in Washington. We’re all from different schools, backgrounds and religions. We’re all united under our Delt Creed; bearing our letters also unites us. Our differences are overshadowed by the single organization in which we are pledged under. Our organizations are composed of bright young men who have a broad common goal: To excel in life. As a Delt we have an obligation to improve as men and to sustain ourselves by building and promoting our brotherhood; despite what physical or religious diversity we have.
